Quality Wine Direct to the Public, Without the Packaging

The idea for Carafe Wine came from a number of places and one of those was a trip to France and lunch with friends in Nice. As we roamed around the old town picking up ingredients for our late afternoon lunch, we stopped by an old liquor store with massive vats for regional wines. You can see them in the background of the colour pic.

Talking to the owner of the store, he produced an old black & white photo of how wine was sold when they first opened. Regional wines were delivered in bulk and the locals dropped by to purchase by the litre using whatever container they found handy. Wicker covered demijohns seemed to be the go back then.

So this is a big part of the inspiration for Carafe Wine. Quality wines from the best regions sold direct to the public without the packaging. And just like we did in Nice, you take your wine home, pick the perfect size and shape carafe, decant and enjoy.

I hope you will come with me on my journey and see if we can take a traditionally good idea and deliver it today in many innovative ways.
